Spring Evening Class

Jan 27, 2017

Shrouded in controversy due to their fantastic discovery and slow pace of publication, it has been claimed that the Dead Sea Scrolls contain information damaging to the Christian faith. This is simply not true. The biblical scrolls contain our oldest Hebrew copies of much of the Old Testament, and the others give new insights into the different Jewish groups that existed during Christ's earthly ministry. In this class, we will learn about the discovery of the scrolls, the types of scrolls found, the archaeology of Qumran, and what makes these texts so fascinating.

Learn more about the Dead Sea Scrolls by joining us for the Spring 2017 Evening Class!  The class will be led by Mid-America Professor, Rev. Andrew Compton on March 16 & 23, and April 6 & 13 at 7:30 pm.  The title of the class is "The Dead Sea Scrolls: What are they? Why are they important? Why are they thought to be contentious?"  (Registration is free.)
