2018 Spring Conference feat. Dr. Robert W. Kellemen
Thursday, January 11
Mid-America Reformed Seminary is pleased to announce that our annual Spring Conference is being held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 1:00 pm. We welcome to campus Dr. Robert Kellemen, Th.M., Ph.D., Pastor of Counseling Ministries at Bethel Church in NW Indiana. He also serves as VP of Strategic Development and Academic Dean at Faith Bible Seminary in Lafayette, Indiana.
Dr. Kellemen's presentation is titled, Counseling Under the Cross: How Martin Luther Applied the Gospel to Daily Life, and will consist of two presentations:
1) Applying the Gospel to Suffering: Martin Luther the Soul Care Giver
Martin Luther not only reformed theology; Luther reformed pastoral counseling. Through lively vignettes, real-life stories, and direct quotes from Luther’s letters of spiritual counsel, we will learn from Martin Luther how to comfort one another with the comfort that we receive from the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort. We’ll learn what it looks like to apply the gospel to suffering so that hurting Christians can find healing hope in Christ alone.
2) Applying the Gospel to Sin and Sanctification: Martin Luther the Soul Physician
Martin Luther not only reformed theology; Luther reformed pastoral counseling. Through lively vignettes, real-life stories, and direct quotes from Luther’s letters of spiritual counsel, we will learn from Martin Luther how to speak gospel truth in love to one another so that we all grow up in Christ. We’ll learn what it looks like to apply the gospel to besetting sins so that Christians can find grace to help and grace to grow in Christ-likeness from Christ alone.
Dr. Kellemen is the Founder and CEO of RPM Ministries. He was also the founding Executive Director of the Biblical Counseling Coalition. For seventeen years he served as the founding Chairman of and Professor in the MA in Christian Counseling and Discipleship department at Capital Bible Seminary in Lanham, MD.
