2022 Fall Lectures with Dr. D.A. Carson

Dr. D.A. Carson, Emeritus Professor of New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Theological School in Deerfield, IL, will be giving this year's Fall Lectures, titled "The Use of the Old Testament in the Epistle to the Hebrews." The lectures are on November 8-9 of this year.

According to his bio, Dr. Carson came to Trinity from the faculty of Northwest Baptist Theological Seminary in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he served for two years as academic dean. He also taught at Northwest Baptist Theological College, Richmond College, and Central Baptist Seminary in Toronto. Dr. Carson has served as assistant pastor and pastor and has done itinerant ministry in Canada and the United Kingdom. Additionally, he is the founder and theologian-at-large of The Gospel Coalition.

Reflecting on the upcoming lectures, Dr. Carson says, "The two New Testament books that are most challenging, from the perspective of how they quote the Old Testament, are Matthew and Hebrews. Here we engage in a deep dive into the latter, seeking to understand the warrants for citing the Old Testament passages this way. The general aim is to deepen our understanding of the Old Testament Scriptures aright, thereby improving our exegetical faithfulness and our grasp of how the Bible is put together."

The schedule for Dr. Carson's lectures will be as follows:

November 9 @ 8:30 am:
